Compare lenders and every known fee

Up to four products · Monthly amortisation · Fees included

Better product comparisons

Look beyond the headline percentage

Two products with similar rates can produce very different outcomes once charges, promotional periods and repayment structures are included.

Count every compulsory charge

Add arrangement, percentage, monthly, annual and closing fees. If a loan fee is financed, the calculator also includes the interest charged on that fee.

Model what happens later

Test a savings bonus that expires, a large final loan payment, regular overpayments, tax and the purchasing-power effect of inflation.

Compare like with like

Every product shares the same amount, term and personal assumptions. Results rank the actual estimated cost or final balance—not whichever rate looks best.

Before choosing a product

Numbers help, but product conditions still matter

When comparing loans

  • Check the lender’s official APR, total amount repayable and repayment schedule.
  • Confirm whether the quoted rate is guaranteed or only representative.
  • Ask about early-settlement, late-payment and optional-service charges.
  • For a foreign-currency loan, compare several exchange rates—not only today’s rate—because repayments in your local currency can rise.
  • Make sure the payment remains affordable if income or expenses change.

When comparing savings

  • Check whether the rate is fixed, variable or includes a temporary bonus.
  • Review minimum deposits, monthly funding rules and withdrawal restrictions.
  • Consider tax and inflation. Check FSCS protection in the UK, the relevant national deposit guarantee scheme in the EU, or FDIC/NCUA insurance in the US.
  • Regularly review variable-rate accounts rather than assuming they remain competitive.

Loan and savings questions

Calculator FAQ

Why can a loan with a lower interest rate cost more?

Arrangement charges, percentage fees, monthly service charges, annual fees, financed fees and a final balloon payment can outweigh a small rate advantage. Compare the total repaid, total cost and fee-inclusive annual cost estimate as well as the monthly payment.

Is the fee-inclusive annual cost the same as an official APR?

No. Bobek estimates an annualised cost from the cash flows entered, including the fees selected. Regulated APR calculations use prescribed legal assumptions and lender-specific details. Always use the official APR and total amount repayable in the lender’s documents before applying.

What are AER, APY and the annual effective rate on savings accounts?

UK providers commonly show AER, US providers show APY, and European providers may use an annual effective or equivalent rate. Each describes a one-year return after compounding so products are easier to compare. A promotional rate can fall when an introductory period ends.

Can I compare a euro loan with a loan in my local currency?

Yes. Choose the currency in which you want to compare results, then select each loan’s actual currency. For a foreign-currency loan, enter how much one unit of the loan currency buys in the comparison currency. Recalculate with several plausible exchange rates because the future local-currency cost is not fixed.

How are savings fees, tax and inflation handled?

Opening, monthly, annual and closing fees are deducted from the projected balance. Optional tax is estimated each twelve-month period after the allowance you enter, unless the product is marked tax-free. Inflation-adjusted value shows estimated purchasing power in today’s money.

Can I compare more than two products?

Yes. Add up to four loans or four savings products. Every product uses the same amount, term and personal assumptions so the results remain comparable.

Does Bobek save my financial information?

No. The calculations run locally in your browser. Amounts, rates and product names are not sent to Bobek or stored in a database.

Are these calculations financial advice?

No. They are illustrative estimates based only on the figures entered. Rates can change, providers may calculate interest differently, and eligibility, taxes, penalties and product conditions vary. Check official documents and seek regulated advice when appropriate.
