Resting energy: Mifflin–St Jeor predicts BMR from personal measurements.
Maintenance: BMR is multiplied by the selected broad activity level.
Goal calories: the selected daily energy adjustment is added to maintenance.
Activity minutes: selected activities share 550 kcal using body weight and MET intensity.

BMR is the estimated energy used at rest for basic body functions. Maintenance calories estimate total daily expenditure after applying an activity multiplier. Eating around maintenance would be expected to keep weight broadly stable over time, though actual needs vary.
