Useful, honest analysis
Counts follow the document-style method described below, while reading time and readability are estimates. This distinction matters when you are preparing an assignment, article, speech, social post or video description.
Document-style counting keeps contractions, hyphenated compounds, decimal numbers, email addresses and web addresses together. Locale-aware segmentation also handles languages such as Japanese, Chinese and Thai more reliably than splitting only at spaces.
The default 238 WPM is based on a review of 190 studies with 18,573 participants. Change the pace when your material is technical, conversational or intended for a particular audience.
Flesch formulas use sentence length and estimated English syllables. They cannot judge factual accuracy, tone, logical structure, accessibility, jargon or whether a sentence is interesting.
Frequent words and phrases show what a draft emphasises and where it may repeat itself. Google explicitly says there is no optimal keyword density, so write clearly for people.
The included platform presets use published limits for standard X posts, LinkedIn posts, YouTube titles and YouTube descriptions as checked in July 2026. Use a custom goal when a platform, account type or brief differs.

Writing analyzer questions
The default document-style count treats contractions, hyphenated compounds, decimal numbers, email addresses and web addresses as one word. Locale-aware browser segmentation also handles languages that do not put spaces between every word. Individual publishers may use slightly different rules, so always follow a supplied style guide when a count is contractual.

Autosave is optional and off by default. When you enable it, the latest text in the writing area is saved in this browser after you stop typing. If you refresh, close or reopen the page, Bobek restores that draft automatically—there is no separate Recover button. It saves one current draft, not the Undo and Redo history. Turning Autosave off deletes the saved draft from this browser.
Reading time divides the word count by your selected reading speed. The default is 238 words per minute, based on a large 2019 review of adult English non-fiction reading studies. You can change the speed to match your audience.
Flesch Reading Ease and Flesch–Kincaid Grade Level are estimates based on sentence length and syllables per word. The analyzer recognizes sentence-ending punctuation even when the next sentence begins with a lowercase letter, while protecting decimals and common abbreviations. Scores are still estimates and are less reliable for other languages, names, jargon or very short passages.
Yes. The default spelling mode accepts words found in either the US or UK English dictionary, so color and colour are both valid. You can switch to US English or UK English for a region-specific check, or turn spelling off when reviewing source code. Dictionary checks run locally in your browser.
No. Google says it does not use an optimal keyword-density target. The frequency table is useful for spotting the subjects and accidental repetition in your draft, not for forcing a phrase to appear a particular number of times.
You can open plain-text files such as TXT, Markdown, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, CSV and many source-code formats up to 5 MB. Word documents, PDFs and other binary formats are not decoded by this browser-based text tool.
